Built with Akura

Find the place that fits the occasion.

Spotted helps people discover restaurants according to what they want from the experience, rather than requiring them to scroll through another general directory and work out the answer themselves.

01

The company

People rarely choose a restaurant by cuisine and distance alone.

They choose for a date, a birthday, a quick lunch, a large group, a particular budget or the kind of atmosphere they want that evening.

The information required to make that decision is currently scattered across maps, social media, saved posts, restaurant websites, group chats and recommendations from friends. There is no shortage of information, but the final decision remains harder than it should be.

Spotted is being built around that decision.

02

The inflection point

Restaurant discovery has accumulated more listings, reviews and content without becoming substantially better at understanding why somebody is going out.

The opportunity was to organise discovery around the occasion rather than adding another source of restaurant information.

Spotted begins in Scandinavia with focused local coverage, allowing the company to learn how people make real restaurant decisions before attempting to expand.

03

What Akura saw

The opening was not another directory.

It was a different organising principle based on the occasion, atmosphere, people and budget behind the choice.

If Spotted can become genuinely useful within one local market, it can build the density, trust and product understanding required to enter larger cities without becoming another thin database of places.

04

What we built together

Akura originated Spotted and is responsible for:

  • Venture thesis and company formation
  • Customer and market validation
  • Product strategy and discovery experience
  • Brand and positioning
  • Business model and unit economics
  • Initial-market selection and launch planning
  • Distribution and company building
05

What changed

Spotted has moved from a broad restaurant-discovery concept towards a clearer product built around occasion-led choice.

The company is in development with a focused local market and a defined basis for determining whether the model should expand: people must understand the proposition, use it for real decisions and return when they next need somewhere to go.

06

What comes next

The next stage is to build sufficient density in the first market, place the product in front of real users and establish whether occasion-led discovery changes how confidently and quickly people choose.

Expansion follows only after the local experience has earned it.
